6. Januar 2017 In this workshop I would like to give an overview of jazz chords for guitar. By jazz chords, I mean four-sounds that can be tonally expanded by options tones (tensions). A four-sound consists of the basic triad plus Septime or Sext. For now, we're just using the septim. In order to save sounds and make the chord sound more open, we do without the quint, as it does not contribute to the chord character. Except of course, she's aged, as with m7b5, dim, aug chords. I start from two fundamentally different situations: It doesn't play bass. In this case, we use voicings with a Basston. A bass plays along. In this case, we use chords without Basston, respectively. Fundamental. The following examples all have the basic tone C. Step 1:1-3-7 and 1-7-3 voicings, so without option tones. Voicings with Basston: CMaj7:8 x 9 9 x x CMaj7:8 7 9 x x x CMaj7: x 3 x 4 5 x CMaj7: x 3 2 4 x x C7:8 x 8 9 x x C7:8 7 8 x x x C7: x 3 x 3 5 x C7: x 3 2 3 x x CmMaj7:8 x 9 8 x x CmMaj7:8 6 9 x x x CmMaj7: x 3 x 4 4 x CmMaj7: x 3 1 4 x x Cm7:8 x 8 8 x x Cm7:8 6 8 x x x Cm7: x 3 x 3 4 x Cm7: x 3 1 3 x x Step 2: Voicings with Basston and option shades (Tensions): CMaj7 (#11): 8 x 9 9 7 x CMaj7 (#11): 8 7 9 11 x x CMaj7 (#11): x 3 x 4 5 2 CMaj7 (#11): x 3 2 4 5 2 CMaj7/9/13:8 x 9 9 10 10 CMaj7/13 x 3 2 4 5 5 CMaj9: x 3 2 4 3 x CMaj9: x x 10 9 12 10 … To be continued…
